Hypnotherapy for anxiety
Norwest Wellbeing treats anxiety with clinical hypnotherapy combined with strategic psychotherapy, in one-to-one sessions, the 6-Week Anxiety Reset program, or the Norwest Method audio program.

At Norwest Wellbeing, anxiety is treated with clinical hypnotherapy combined with strategic psychotherapy. Sessions target how your anxiety actually runs (the automatic loop of threat-focus, worst-case imagining and body tension) and train calmer responses at the unconscious level where the pattern lives.
Why hypnotherapy suits anxiety
Anxiety rarely responds to logic alone, because it doesn't run on logic. You can know a worry is irrational and still feel the surge. Hypnotherapy works below that level: in a state of focused attention, your practitioner helps your mind rehearse new automatic responses. Settling instead of spiralling. Anxiety is one of the areas where hypnotherapy has clinical research support; see hypnotherapy research and evidence.
The strategic psychotherapy component maps your specific pattern first: what triggers it, what you focus on, what you do next. That makes the hypnosis precise rather than generic.
What the clinic works with
Anxiety work at Norwest Wellbeing covers generalised anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, health anxiety, overthinking, OCD, exam anxiety, public speaking, and phobias including flying, driving, heights, needles and more. See the full list in conditions we work with. Paul Smith's specialties include anxiety and OCD; children's anxiety is also a core area of the paediatric practice.
Your options
- One-to-one sessions. Initial consultation up to 90 minutes ($300, including an audio recording of the trance portion), returning sessions up to 60 minutes ($300). In-clinic at Norwest or via Zoom Australia-wide.
- 6-Week Anxiety Reset: a structured $997 program combining clinical hypnotherapy, strategic psychotherapy and NLP.
- The Norwest Method: an 8-week personalised audio program available for anxiety ($497 up front or $67/week), written from your intake form.
No outcome is guaranteed. Anxiety work is collaborative, and practising between sessions matters. But you don't have to figure out the right option alone: book a free 15-minute callback via /appointments or phone (02) 8069 9777 and the clinic will recommend a path.
If your anxiety involves thoughts of suicide or self-harm, or panic you cannot manage safely, that needs urgent care rather than a scheduled appointment. Call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14, and see emergency and crisis support.
