Session recording consent

You consent to therapeutic recordings via your intake form, can stop recording at any time during a session, and can withdraw consent for future recordings.

Sessions are only recorded with your consent, which you give through your intake form. You can ask to stop recording at any time during a session, and you can withdraw your consent for future recordings whenever you choose. Recording is never a condition of receiving care.

How consent is given

Consent for therapeutic recordings is captured via your intake form before your session. See intake forms explained for how the forms work. You decide at that point whether recording is okay with you.

What triggers a recording

Recordings serve your therapy, for example, the initial consultation includes an audio recording of the trance portion of the session so you can listen again between appointments. Nothing is recorded outside the consent you've given.

Your ongoing control

Consent is not a one-off, locked-in decision:

  • During a session. Say the word and recording stops, at any point, no reason needed.
  • For the future. Withdraw your consent for future recordings at any time, and no further recordings are made.

Who can access recordings and where they're stored

Access to your therapeutic recordings is restricted to your treating practitioners, Paul and Rebecca Smith. Recordings are stored on Australian servers, are never sold, and are not transferred overseas without your extra written consent: the same protections that apply to all your records, detailed in privacy and your records. What can ever be disclosed from your sessions is governed by confidentiality.

Who to contact

To withdraw recording consent or ask how a recording is used, speak with your practitioner or email hello@norwestwellbeing.com.au. Privacy-specific concerns go to our Privacy Officer, Paul Smith, at privacy@norwestwellbeing.com.au or (02) 8069 9777. The full policy is at /privacy.
