The Home Session for ASD and ADHD

The Home Session for ASD and ADHD is clinical child hypnotherapy shaped for the ASD and ADHD mind, created by Paul Smith after intake and a short Zoom meet, listened to in bed for $300.

The Home Session for ASD, ADHD and AuDHD is clinical hypnotherapy for children aged four to twelve, shaped around the patterns behind meltdowns, shutdowns, and daily fights, and listened to where they are calmest: their own bed. Investment $300. Paul Smith creates these sessions and is ASD and ADHD himself.

Why this format suits ASD and ADHD kids

Clinic rooms often work against ASD and ADHD children: unfamiliar lights, sounds, smells, a new adult, and pressure to perform. Some kids mask through the appointment; others hit sensory overload early. Either way, once "I don't want to be here" attaches to the therapist's voice, the work stalls.

The Home Session keeps the same clinical process (intake, review, therapeutic work) and removes the room. You give the clinical picture after the mask comes off. The session is created around their world and listened to at bedtime, when defences are already down.

Paul Smith and lived experience

Paul Smith (Dip.Clin.Hyp., Dip.Psych.Th.) specialises in ASD and ADHD support, childhood anxiety, behavioural patterns, and trust and attachment. More than half of his clinical work is with children in this space. He is ASD and ADHD himself and does not treat that as something to "fix". The Home Session is built to help your child move toward seeing their difference as a strength.

On this pathway Paul is the practitioner for the meet call, session creation, and two-week check-in.

How it works

  1. Secure the session ($300) and open the clinical child intake straight away.
  2. Complete the intake in your own time (around sixty five questions), including sensory sensitivities, meltdown triggers, and what they love in detail (special interests become the world the session is set in).
  3. Book a short Zoom call with Paul (ten to fifteen minutes) to meet your child.
  4. Paul reviews the intake and call into a clinical profile: what to work on, what to avoid, and what gets through.
  5. The session is written for your child alone, built around what they actually love, and delivered within one to two days of the call.
  6. Your child listens in bed in two parts of twelve to fifteen minutes each.

What evenings this is built for

Common patterns this session is shaped around include:

  • Meltdowns after school that look unrelated to the moment, because the day has been held together since morning
  • Bedtime that takes far longer than it should, every night
  • Seeming fine until something changes without warning
  • Going quiet for a day after a friendship falls over
  • Holding it together for school, relatives, or coaches, then falling apart at home with the people they trust most

Holding it together all day and falling apart at home is treated as nervous-system exhaustion, not a discipline problem.

What is included for $300

  • In-depth clinical child intake
  • Clinical review and full therapeutic profile
  • Short Zoom call with Paul to meet your child
  • Individually created session built around what they love (two-part format for ASD and ADHD attention spans)
  • Delivery within one to two days of the assessment call
  • At-home listening
  • Two-week check-in call with Paul (link sent after delivery)

This is a deeper clinical service than the $97 personalised audio product. The $300 covers intake review, the Zoom meet, the individually written session, and follow-up.

If your child has an NDIS plan or a therapy team (behaviour support, OT, psychology), The Home Session complements that work. It does not replace it.

Common questions

Q: Can I book an in-clinic appointment for my ASD or ADHD child instead? A: Child sessions are delivered as Home Sessions. The room was often the barrier (sensory load, masking, one bad appointment). If you are unsure, book a free fifteen minute call.

Q: Does Paul actually understand this, or is it just his job? A: Paul is ASD and ADHD himself and built The Home Session from lived experience as well as clinical work. He sees his own ASD and ADHD as a strength and aims for your child to get there too.

Q: Will this actually use my child's special interest? A: Yes. The intake asks for detail on purpose. That interest becomes the world the session is set in.

Q: Meltdowns only happen at home, not at school. Is this still relevant? A: Yes. That pattern is common and is exactly what this session is built around.

Q: Bedtime is already a battle. Won't this make it harder? A: It is designed to fit into bedtime, not add a new routine. Your child presses play and listens as they fall asleep while clinical work runs underneath the story.

Q: My child does not trust adults. Will the Zoom call be a problem? A: The call is short and low pressure. There is no expectation that your child performs or opens up. After that, the session is a calm voice in a story, listened to alone in bed.

Q: Will my child need more than one session? A: Start with one. After a few weeks of listening you decide together. No outcome is guaranteed; every child is different.
