There are several health benefits associated with improved relaxation. For starters, people that are more relaxed have a tendency to sleep better and they usually have better control over their weight. They’re also less likely to develop conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease and even diabetes. More recently, scientists have determined that individuals who have less stress and a healthy diet coupled with an active lifestyle are less likely to develop stiffness in the arteries due to a reduction in stress hormones.
Conversely, individuals who have added levels of stress and consistently experience high levels of stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol are far more likely to experience this condition. This in turn can cause other problems such as pulmonary hypertension, aneurysm, stroke and heart attack. It also makes the heart work harder which can cause an enlarged heart and problems with heart rhythm.
