How it works

Feeling anxious, nervous and stressed is part of the normal range of emotions, just like feeling angry or sad. For many teenagers, as they develop and grow into healthy adults, anxiety doesn’t last and often goes away by itself. But for some teens, it doesn’t go away or is so extreme that it stops them from doing daily activities. Events, starting a new high school or new school year, can become overwhelming for an adolescent or teenager. When day to day, activities become difficult you need to seek help.

The Norwest Wellbeing emotional intelligence program for teenagers is a one-hour session specifically designed for adolescents and teenagers. We explain to you and your child why they are feeling the way they are and why they act the way they do. When we understand our behaviours and patterns, change not only becomes possible, but it becomes a long term way to think, act and behave. With simple tools and a sound understanding, you and your child will leave confident, relaxed and ready for an exciting year ahead.

FAQ

During the session

Each session includes strategic psychotherapy and a clinical hypnotherapy session. The session begins with an informal chat so we can get to know each other a little better. We then move onto techniques and teach you and your child methods to manage and reduce anxiety and stress. We then progress to a hypnotherapy session to lock in the changes and let the child experience a completely calm and relaxed state during hypnosis.

Psychotherapist & Clinical Hypnotherapist

Hi, I’m Paul, and I’ll be the Clinical Hypnotherapist running your session. I treat anxiety and depression issues in people of all ages. I’ve had six children of my own and seven grandchildren. I know and understand what it’s like when children experience anxiety and depression, especially during their teenage years and at the beginning of high school.

What’s important is that you are taking steps to support your child so they can live a happy and satisfying life managing their anxiety and stress. Without the tools and techniques, I teach in these sessions, anxiety in children may increase and becomes a life long issue for the teenager as they grow into an adult.
